Technical FAQ
FAQ 1
When I try to run EDSA Technical I get an Error "Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications Error -214722024 invalid index specified" how can I fix this?
The error occurs if the software was installed by an Administrator and then a different user logs on and tries to run the application. Please make sure user has Power User rights on the PC. Next, follow these steps.
1. Exit EDSA and log on under the end user account name. 2. From the Start button choose Programs>EDSA>Rebuild EDSA Toolbar. 2. EDSA will launch and properly configure its environment for the end user.
Why does this occur? The EDSA User Interface (UI) is defined based on a user profile. The changes to the EDSA UI are 'per user" so if the Administrator has logged on and loaded the software, the toolbars are set for that account. When another user logs on, they now have the above procedure to add the interface buttons for themselves. AutoCAD user 'profiles' act similarly.
FAQ 2
My busbars are very long and sometimes EDSA crashes when I try to open up a project file. What is going on and how can I fix this?
It's very important to select the US Standard setting. Under Regional Settings, select customize to make sure Number and Currency are set properly. Just changing to US Standard may not automatically make the currency and number change. Please physically verify that decimal is (.) and comma is (,).
If you use a comma instead of a period for decimal as such your busbar is very long - infinitely long. This is a problem that can only be fixed by you changing your currency regional settings and number settings to match Decimal as Period and Commas.
FAQ 3
The Operating System thinks EDSA is still installed on my machine. When I tried to remove it using Add/Remove programs I got an error message and now Windows thinks EDSA is still on my PC and I can't re-install.
If you get a message "EDSA Technical 2000 is already installed" when you have removed and are attempting a re-install, you can download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility or you can check your registry for the following keys:
Below are the various registry keys that the installer looks for to determine if a previous release resides on the system. If the T2K isn't showing up in Add/Remove Programs, then you can delete any of these keys if you find them in the registry. HKLM stands for HKey Local Machine.

FAQ 5
Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file: E:\EDSA-2004SR\190550.msi"
This error can occur while the upgrade is trying to uninstall the previous product. Currently, the only solution to this problem is for the installation user to manually uninstall the old product from the machine and then run the upgrade installation.
To uninstall the old product, use the Add/Remove Programs applet. If that does not uninstall properly, use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility utility to remove the old product.
FAQ 6
Error 1606 during installation
The error 1606 that occurs during the AutoDesk Actrix portion of the EDSA installation may be caused by a missing folder in the "Default User" of the user's system. Using REGEDIT, check your system for the following information to make sure that the folders defined in the registry key below exists on their system:
Registry key location:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
Default values:
"AppData"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data"
"Cookies"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Cookies"
"Desktop"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Desktop"
"Favorites"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Favorites"
"NetHood"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\NetHood"
"Personal"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\My Documents"
"My Pictures"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\My Documents\My Pictures"
"PrintHood"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\PrintHood"
"Recent"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Recent"
"SendTo"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\SendTo"
"Start Menu"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Start Menu"
"Templates"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Templates"
"Programs"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Start Menu\Programs"
"Startup"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Start Menu\Programs\Startup"
"Local Settings"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings"
"Local AppData"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Application Data"
"Cache"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files"
"History"=c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\History"
"Fonts"=c:\WINNT\Fonts"
In particular, you should make sure the folder "c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Application Data" exists along with the folder "c:\Documents and Settings\[InstallingUser]\Local Settings\Application Data", where [InstallingUser] should be substituted with the currently logged in user who's performing the install.
