EDSA Sizing and Optimization programs

EDSA offers users a complete library of proven, powerful solutions a wide range of sizing tasks, including:

  • Battery Sizing - Based on IEEE Standard 485-1983, this module allows engineers to correctly calculate calculate the sizing of batteries under a wide range of load-related and other variables.

  • Cable Ampacity N-M and IEC

  • Generator Set Sizing - Helps engineers select generators that the satisfy load requirements for specific applications. Tabulates loads and determines both maximum and continuous load demand under a variety of conditions.

  • Transformer Sizing - Computes the transformer life expectancy or size that meets the user's requirements using the "load profile" method. Also performs KVA/Life Expectancy analysis.

  • Wire and Conduit Sizing - Allows users to size power conductors for number of conductors in a single conduit or raceway; circuits involving multiple conductors per phase; single conductor cables in a cable tray, any many more types of sizing analysis.

  • Bare Wire Sizing - Calculates the current/ temperature relationship of bare overhead lines when weather conditions are given.

  • Short Line Parameters - Produces both Positive and Zero Sequence impedance values for overhead lines; three-conductor cables, three-signal conductor cables; three-single concentric neutral cables; any many more types of sizing analysis.

  • Transmission Line Constants - Calculations are based on the characteristics and positions of the conductors, as well as Carson's formula. Helps user avoid complex, time-consuming calculations.

  • Cable Tray Analysis - Allows user to calculate ampacities of cables within randomly-filled trays.

  • Transmission Line Sag and Tension - Calculates the sag and tension in wire spans, , as well as the length. Wire spans can be calculated with supports at the same or different elevations.
