Mark A. Ascolese, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Mark Ascolese brings more than 30 years of executive-level operations, marketing, and sales management experience to EDSA, much of it in the electrical and electronics field. Throughout his career, he has held top-level posts with industry leaders such as General Electric, Eaton, Powerware, and others.
Mark was named Chairman & Chief Executive Officer in March 2008, having served on the Company's Board since 2006. He is recognized as a leading figure in the electrical power industry, having co-founded the Washington D.C.-based Critical Power Coalition, and serving on numerous industry and corporate boards.
Mark is a graduate of the University of Louisville, as well as General Electric’s Crotonville Executive Management Training program and Duke University's Fuqua School of Executive Education.
Mark P. Mills, Board Member
Mark P. Mills, a co-founding partner in Digital Power Capital, is Chief Technology Officer and Chairman of the Board of ICx Technologies. An avid writer, who has co-authored the book The Bottomless Well with colleague Peter Huber, Mark has been published in various popular publications, including Forbes, Wall Street Journal and the New York Times Magazine, as well as numerous professional publications. He has testified before and briefed many state public service commissions, legislative groups, state legislators, and the U.S. Congress.
Before co-founding Digital Power Capital, Mark operated his own consultancy, and served as a staff consultant to The White House Science Office (under President Reagan), a number of the Federal Research Laboratories, the (former) Congressional Office of Technology Assessment, and the U.S. Department of Energy. Mark holds a degree in physics from Queen’s University, Canada, and is a member of numerous professional societies including the American Physical Society, and Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
Ali Nasle, Co-Founder
Ali Nasle founded EDSA in 1983, having already established himself as an award-winning pioneer in electrical engineering. He is credited with dozens of electrical engineering patents and inventions, dating back to the first digital protective device coordination program.
Under his direction, EDSA products have emerged as the most comprehensive, widely-used and internationally certified electrical design and simulation products in the world. Today, thousands of customers worldwide rely on technologies pioneered by Ali, to protect assets valued at more than $100 billion. Following EDSA's acquisition by Digital Power Capital in March, 2008, he remains with the Company as a senior advisor.
Since founding the Company, Ali has been honored with numerous citations, including IEEE/SEM's Outstanding Engineer of the Year Award; MSPE's Outstanding Engineer in Industry; and election to ESD's College of Fellows. He received his MSEE from Wayne State University, and his BS from Michigan State University.
Adib Nasle, Co-Founder & Chief Strategy Officer
Adib is Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at EDSA and is responsible for the Company’s technology and product strategies, and third-party alliances.
Under his leadership, Adib realized the Company’s real-time power analytics strategy while also leading EDSA’s successful compliance efforts with the International Standards Organization (ISO), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Nuclear Procurement Issues Committee (NUPIC), the Department of Defense (DoD), NATO, Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and others.
Adib is a member and alumni of the Stanford University Directors Forum and FANFE, a Fellow of the Aspen Institute, and is currently obtaining his PKE MBA from Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business and Management. Adib also holds a BA from Michigan State University. Adib also served as legislative aide to US Senator Carl Levin (D) Michigan, during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He currently serves as co-Chair of the San Diego CleanTECH SIG, and is a steering committee member of San Diego’s CleanTECH Venture Roundtable. Adib actively supports various charitable organizations and also serves as an ambassador for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Karen Cronin, Advisor
Karen Cronin served in numerous leadership roles with the Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, and the United States Air Force.
While at the Department of Transportation, she served as the Director of Logistics and Information Systems and oversaw the development of logistics, information technology and security systems for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the British Ministry of the Defence, the US Air Force, and the United States Capitol Police.
At the FAA, she served as leader of a special task force to address power system failures, and directed the assessment and remediation of the power systems that support the entire NAS. The task force developed and implemented significant improvements to the design and support of the system nationwide, which resulted in dramatically reduced failures.
Ms Cronin's education includes an M.S. in Mathematics, Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio; a B.A. in Mathematics, LeMoyne College, Syracuse, NY; and post-graduate work at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. She also has attended executive programs at Northwestern University and Carnegie Mellon University. She has training in French, Spanish, and German.
